Our donors have made it possible for UNFF to support Rohingya refugee operations on the ground. For the last 6 months, we have been providing medical support to refugee women and children in the Cox’s Bazaar camp in Bangladesh. With the impending COVID-19 spread globally, we want to ensure we are doing everything to equip our doctors and staff on the ground to deliver medical support in a safe manner. In the face of a global pandemic, this means we need to supply our medical staff with the proper PPE, mask and gloves so they can continue to treat patients in the camp. We need your donations to help us get to our goal.
The Health Focal of Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commission (RRRC) provided us with the below estimate:
For UNFF-Global One medical staff:
There are 6 facilities in Camp 17, with about 60 health workers who need 1,800 disposable PPE sets for one month. Each disposable PPE is $8 a piece, the total for UNFF-Global One amounts to $14,400.
For All medical staff in Cox’s Bazaar’s Rohingya Refugee Camp:
There are 200 health facilities in 34 refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar. Assuming there are 10 health workers on average in each facility, there are about 2,000 health workers currently working in the refugee camps including doctors, paramedics and nurses. For the COVID-19 protection of those health workers for 30 days, we need 60,000 disposable PPE sets. The total for all medical staff amounts to $480,000.
The Hygiene Technical Working Group provided us with the below estimate:
For All Rohingya refugees in Cox’s Bazaar:

The HTWG proposed a list of minimum and ideal number of hygiene kit materials for the refugees urgently needed to prevent community outbreak of COVID-19 in refugee camps. Please see details here. The estimated total number of refugees is 1.1 million and costs per beneficiary is $29.60. To reach only 1% of this refugee population, the total amounts to $295,900.
Please consider donating to help us get closer to serving as much of the Rohingya refugee population as possible.
